Napier City Council is currently rebuilding part of Puketapu Road. Works started in January and are scheduled for completion June 2012.
In a week or so, NCC contractors (Higgins) will be resealing the top section above the cemetery entrance.
Once the remainder of the retaining walls are built and new stormwater pipes placed the bottom section will be resealed.
There is going to be a bit of disturbance to the road surface while the works are in progress and the roadie-cyclists in the council are suggesting cyclists choose another route especially when the surface is being prepped and is not the best to ride on.
At the end of the project there will be a dedicated cycle lane and footpath for pedestrians.
