Nga Haerenga: The New Zealand Cycle Trail Official Partner Programme was launched in the Hawke’s Bay yesterday.
This programme will provide a framework for a collaborative approach between the 18 Great Rides (under the New Zealand Cycle Trail) and New Zealand businesses.
The programme has been designed to build the profile of The New Zealand Cycle Trail, increase turnover for New Zealand businesses that relate to the trail and provide increased downstream economic benefits to regional communities.
New Zealand Cycle Trail Programme Manager, John Dunn, says the physical trail is only one part of the overall cycle trail product that will attract cyclists to the 18 Great Rides spread throughout New Zealand. “Cyclists using the 18 Great Rides will need a range of services including everything from accommodation, transport, bike hire, food, petrol and even activities for when they are not cycling. They will expect a high level of customer service and a warm welcome.”
The Official Partner programme will aim to increase New Zealand’s credibility as a cycling destination. For further information, check out the New Zealand Cycle Trail website at: http://www.nzcycletrail.com/ or email nzcycletrail@med.govt.nz .
