Junior Ramblers members competed at the North Island Intermediate School Cycling champs at Taupo on Friday 16th September. Blustery westerly winds and showers were the order of the day.
Cadel Heney had an outstanding race in the yr 7 Boys category claiming a silver medal. Cadel had broken away with the eventual winner, splitting the field in the strong winds.
Sam Thorpe-Loversuch claimed a bronze in the yr 8 Boys category. He had been off school (ill) during the week and was lucky to be competing. Sam's sister (Ashleigh) rode in the yr 7 Girls race, even though she is a yr 6 pupil. She put in a gutsy performance to finish 11th.
Noah Mason-Smith (CHB) also rode well to finish mid pack in the yr 8 Boys race.
