Day One NZ Track Nationals

With the first day behind us the ECNI medal tally at the NZ Track Nats is already looking healthy as Kerry Harford once again won the Masters Men 2 Scratch title. The tight bunch jostled for position during the whole race, as everybody marked Harford. Except a few attemps from some local riders it was peleton complete with two laps to go. In a strategical move that wouldn't put old Patton to shame, Harford was at the sharp end of the action when it counted and dominated the last lap like a true General.
It was deja vu for Regan Gough in the Under 15 Boys 500mtr TT, like last year he finished fourth again, just missing a medal by a mere 2/100th of a second. But he will be a strong contender for all his other mass start events.
Cousin Fraser Gough better his Personal Best in the Under 19 IP by more than 2 seconds, but this was not enough to qualify for a medal run off, as he finished fifth in qualifying.
As this meet goes on experience has shown that the track-less East Coasters will find their legs the more they ply the siberian larch oval. We'll keep you posted.
