Wardies Christmas Cake Tootle

Come and join us on boxing day for the Christmas Cake tootle leaving Havelock clock tower 8:00 am Boxing Day. The 100km ride heads slowly towards Camp David at a pace to keep everyone together and to allow the indulgences of the day before to settle. The ride stops at Camp David where everyone is expected to clip out of their pedals and to wait for all of the riders to regroup.
The ride then continues at an easy pace to Patangata turning right at the Hotel and heading along River road then right into Pourerere Road then onto Tamumu Road into Waipawa.
The bunch stops for approx 15 Minutes in the park behind the Waipawa clock. This is where the Christmas cake the you have been diligently saving becomes your energy source for the 50Km's back. At a signal given by Steve Watson the ride heads back North out of Waipawa turning right into Racecorse road which eventually becomes Elsthorpe Road. Care needs to be taken over the railway crossings. The next turn is left into Te Kura road and the bunch starts to get a sniff of the refreshments awaiting at the Loading Ramp. The pace usually atarts to increase along Te Kura and the gloves are off by the time the left turn into Middle Road arrives. The slower riders are left to fend for themselves as the group heads back to Havelock and the pace seems to be very quick at the 50km road signs into town. ("Kerry/Andrew")
Riders then progress to the Loading ramp to rehydrate in the worst possible manner.

See you all there !!
