Southland Yunca Junior Tour Reminder

Can you please inform your junior riders about this below.
This is to remind Riders that entries for the Yunca Junior Tour and Junior Track Carnival that follows are filling quickly.
There are limited places in every category for road safey management reasons.
If riders have not yet entered they should go to the following link.
http://www.cyclingsouth.org.nz/index.php?pageLoad=128
Entries are only accepted online and there will be no late entries

Please note that due to the short nature of the TT course (2.6km for all categories) at this year’s Yunca that the organising committee has decided that aero helmets, disc wheels, fixed wheels and aero bars (clip on or otherwise) are NOT PERMITTED in the opening prologue. The same bike is required to be ridden throughout the Yunca Tour.
This also will help the large contingent of Australian riders who will not incur the expense of bringing a specialist TT bike or extra gear over for such a short first stage.

Memorial Ride

Thank you to everyone who turned out to complete or support the memorial ride on Saturday in support of Rob and his family as they come to terms with the loss of Brenda. Your generosity has enabled the club to make a donation, as per the family’s wishes, to Cranford Hospice, in Brenda’s name.
This memorial ride will become an annual race at the end of each Winter Series named the Brenda Oliver Memorial.
We offer our warmest thoughts to the Oliver family in the coming months and we will remember the huge contribution Brenda made to our club, as well as the support and love she gave to so many of us individually.

CXHB

CXHB’s last race of its inaugural series on Sunday 28th August was a resounding success. Thanks to Andrew Barlow and his small but dedicated team for profiling a relatively new discipline to the Bay so very well.
The four events (EIT, Pan Pac Mountain-bike Park, Roys Hill, Chesterhope) gave riders a range of courses and challenges, tempting many hardy roadies to ‘have a go’.
The prizes, the trophy and the delicious BBQ made a great day (and series) even better.
Check out http://cxhb.blogspot.com/ for results and fantastic photographs.
Ramblers members look forward to more from CXHB.

K2 Training Camp 16th – 18th September

Some places are still available for this camp which is an opportunity to train over routes based on the Gran Fondo concept that the organiser trialled a couple of years ago. The course is ideal preparation for K2 both in length and difficulty. Participants may wish to complete either of the two shorter courses. A detailed route card and ride information sheet will be issued prior to the ride. A vehicle check point will be centrally located to monitor rider’s progress and to act as a re-fuelling/clothing stop. As a safety precaution all groups will be required to “check in” at this vehicle.
