TOP CYCLIST RETURNS FOR HOSPI BIKE RIDE

Wellington’s Hospital to Hospital Charity Bike Ride

Supporting Wellington Children’s Hospital

Wellington’s second annual HOSPI bike ride is back! Following great success with the inaugural HOSPI bike ride in 2009, this year’s bike ride will be held on Sunday 14th March.

New Zealand’s only women’s road cycling team are again starters for the ride.

Team member, Emma Crum, one of New Zealand’s best road cyclists, has returned from training in Europe to participate in the event again. “Last year was awesome; we thoroughly enjoyed it and feel we’re making a contribution to help children in Hospital. Count us in!” says Emma.

Wellington’s Hospital to Hospital charity bike ride, from Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua to Wellington Children’s Hospital in Newtown via Makara is held to raise funds for Sick Kids at Wellington Children’s Hospital.

The annual event is hosted by HOSPI, the official lion mascot for Wellington Hospitals and Health Foundation and will provide participants with a unique opportunity to ride the roads of Wellington in a fun bike ride that puts safety first.

Six weeks out from the Charity Bike Ride, entries are starting to arrive from would be participants throughout the greater Wellington Region. Participant numbers are expected to exceed 600 participants.

The entire ride is 50km with options to ride solo, in a 25km relay section or in a team of 6 riders.

Entry and route details are available on the event website www.hospibikeride.co.nz.

More than 23,000 sick kids visit Wellington Children’s Hospital every year and funds raised through the HOSPI bike ride will be used for the Hospital’s child-friendly redevelopment.
